This year, competitors in the RAA Southern Rally will now be using the ‘full’ version of RallySafe. This will mean competitors will not be required to manually start and stop the device like they did last year, this function is now automatic.
The other benefit of this change has been the addition of live timing. These results will be utilised as the unofficial timing and results and will ensure crews and teams have instant access to how they are performing. Conventional event timing will then be used to formulate the provisional official results. This will ensure trophies and presentations are done at a reasonable hour and pack up can be completed by crews in the light.
Despite the rise in the cost of hiring the RallySafe in the full mode, (a cost that has been absorbed), both RAA and SDCC see these changes as a worthwhile improvement that delivers better service to its entrants and spectators.

NEW Rally Safe Guide.
RallySafe promotion from ARC
RAA announced as naming rights sponsor of 2017 Southern Rally Rallying in South Australia is set to benefit from a raised profile in its association with the largest member based organisation in SA. RAA have put their support behind Round 1 of the MRF Tyres SA Rally Championship and this has brought a new level of safety to the Southern Fleurieu event.
The RAA Southern Rally will be the first SARC premier level event to use RallySafe.
Clerk of Course Adam Tillett,
The return of RallySafe will complement our existing tracking in what can be challenging terrain on the South Coast
“We recognise that RAA, as the peak motoring body in South Australia, also shares our commitment to safety, in particular Road Safety and providing safe, affordable environments for people to compete is part of that complex solution” RAA’s involvement will again extend to Scrutineering at their ‘very central’ facility in Mile End.
The raised profile of the event and exposure to the 600,000 RAA members via RAA’s social media and other channels will also benefit competitors in how they can give their existing or potential sponsors return on their investment.
The RAA Southern Rally is being run on May the 7th in the Second Valley Forest.
